In addition to his law practice, Paisley is currently a member, and past president, secretary and treasurer of the Alamance County Bar Association. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the North Carolina Bar Association. He is sworn in and admitted to try cases in all North Carolina Courts, the Federal Eastern, Middle and Western District Courts, and the United States Supreme Court.
Paisley graduated from Elon College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, and from Wake Forest School of Law in 1973 with a Juris Doctor. He has been a presenter in the area of corporate structure, contracts, insurance law, and regulations for the Carolinas Balloon Association safety seminar.
A licensed commercial hot air balloon pilot, Paisley has been a board member and past treasurer of the Carolinas Balloon Association. He operates Paisley Balloon Aviation, trains pilots, and evaluates Lighter Than Air pilots for flight reviews. As a pilot, he served as the volunteer Pilot Liaison for the Hospice Hot Air Balloon Rally in Alamance County. He has also volunteered his services as a pilot at Victory Junction Gang Camp, giving the campers tether rides. Each year he participates in numerous hot air balloon competitions and civic events across the country. These balloon rallies enable communities to raise funds for various charities.

Married to Joyce Aldret Paisley for 40 years, he has four children and six grandchildren. His family has lived in Alamance County since 1973. During this time, Paisley has been active in numerous civic groups, including the Jaycees and the Alamance Civitan Club. He served as the President of the Alamance Civitan Club from 1982 to 1983. In the Parent Teacher Association, he served at the school level as president and treasurer and as the citywide Council President, as well as being on the Advisory Committee for the Burlington City Schools. When his children were growing up, he coached soccer, softball, and baseball for the Burlington City Recreation Department and youth basketball in the YMCA church league.
Paisley is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Previously, he was a member of Graham Presbyterian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for middle-school grades.

From 1979 to 1991, and again in 2013 to 2014, Paisley served on the Board of Elections for Alamance County. At the statewide level, he was the President of the State Board of Elections Chairman's Association. Other affiliations include serving as the Chairman of the Alamance-Caswell Mental Health Board, as a member of the Elon Alumni Board and of the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Certification Board.
